Getting involved & performing

To perform you need to call us prior to the event. They get booked up early but occasionally a free slot becomes available just before the event or even on the night. You need to arrive between 7.30pm and 8pm. Session times are on a first-come first-served basis.

Each Showcase session lasts 15-20 minutes which usually allows each act to play three songs (Workshop sessions are limited to two songs each). We like to hear an example of your own material, so one or two of your tunes plus a cover or two is ideal. If you're less experienced and confident, or playing a style that may have limited appeal, it may be best to limit your session to two songs.

But don't forget, we want everyone to have a go and it’s better to have a good reception to your best two songs rather than people tiring of your act. Trust us - we generally have a good feel as to what works best. It may also be better to grab an earlier slot as well. This will work in your favour as all acts, and most of their mates, will be there by 8pm.

The first act to appear on each Showcase event may be able to play four songs. This slot will normally be an experienced act that was a bit late in booking.

The aim is to have about ten acts each night with the last act finishing by 11pm. Try to stay for the whole show - you won't be disappointed!

We have a full PA system to amplify your instruments and vocals, so there’s no need to break your back or your car’s suspension by bringing all your amps.

"Why do I need to play a cover, I'd prefer to play my own stuff?"

At One Night Stand Acoustic we really want to hear loads of original material, however, many people in the audience will not have heard you before and a whole night of up to 35 new songs can be hard going even for your most loyal fans.

So we ask you (we don't insist) to play at least one cover. You will of course defeat the object if you choose some obscure cover by someone hardly anyone's heard of! By all means play such a song if it means a lot to you but for 'the cover' find something that will connect with the crowd...it doesn't have to be cheesy, you know you can do better than that!

Anyway it works really well and if you want to play to a packed house at each club night we need to have a successful formula!
